There are countless reasons why someone would want to be part of the Sauna revolution. Over the years, various studies have been undertaken to prove some of these claims (in case you didn’t believe us!).

| ✓ Relaxation | |
| ✓ Improved sleep | |
| ✓ Improved skin | |
| ✓ Muscle recovery | |
| ✓ Fun activity! | |

However you bloomin well like! We aren’t pronunciation snobs here…
But if you are still interested, the answer could depend on where you are from:
UK: “Saw”-“na”
US: “Sah”-“na”
Finland: “Sow”-“na”
Note, just because the word originated in Finland, doesn’t mean every country / language has to pronounce it the Finnish way (that’s not how languages work!). Here at The Sauna Installer, we pronounce it the UK way (mostly because it makes our name almost a half rhyme and rolls off the tongue… and because why not).
Take a look at the Cambridge Dictionary site for some reference material:

We are down to earth and here to help.
We recognise most existing offerings are both expensive and confusing. Most companies require you to work out the ground preparation, to workout the electrics and potentially do half the work to make your sauna a reality. You will also likely have little transparency on cost and wonder how many quotes you should get to check you aren’t being taken advantage of!
We do it all, and make it as fun an experience as we can.
With guide pricing here and a tailored quote to give you full visibility of any changes or upgrades you may prefer, you will have confidence we are an honest and reputable team.
- Infra-red (IR) electromagnetic radiation (invisible light) directly heats your body from an emitting source (could be carbon panels or ceramic tubes).
- Typically more compact sizes
- Reduced energy demand (easier installation)
- No “steam” or increased humidity
- Lower temperature
- Potentially less respiratory benefits
- Traditional or Finnish sauna uses a heater to heat rocks which in turn heat the air in the room.
- Require more space for heater and safe clearance
- Require direct mains electric connection
- Ability to pour water on the stones and increase heat and humidity
- Higher temperature
- Much older technology and therefore more research to support benefits
The choice is often made based on personal preference of what you want out of a sauna but may also be dictated by the location and size available to you. We are happy to talk through the pros and cons of each for your specific circumstances.
This is completely personal preference and what you are hoping to achieve from a sauna experience. Both are great experiences and have health and wellbeing benefits and whichever you choose, you will enjoy using your sauna for years to come.
In some instances you may be restricted in which sauna you can have in your chosen space (for example, a traditional sauna requires ventilation to the outside of your property, if there is no direct route for the ventilation you may have to go with an IR. Let us know your desired location and we can talk you through the options).
| IR | Traditional | |
| Cost | Marginally cheaper | |
| Location | Less restrictions | |
| Installation | Simpler electrics | |
| Temperature | Higher temp | |
| “Classic” sauna | Original Finnish style | |
| Health Benefits | More proven | |
| Convenience | No pre-heat required | |
| Cost to run | Typically half or less | |
| Muscle recovery | More focussed | |
| Humidity and steam | Pour water on stone | |
| Enjoyment | Both great | Both great |
| Style | Both great | Both great |
| Get your sweat on | Both great | Both great |

We specialise in making the sauna fit your space. Sometimes this results in the cost being slightly more than a standard design, but sometimes this can be less (ie if two supporting walls are to be used which could reduce material cost!).
We also undertake unique large-scale projects if you want something truly special for your location. There is no project our expert craftsmen/women can’t do.
Found a sauna kit online already but recognise it isn’t a straightforward task to assemble? We are happy to help.
Our projects are fully insured and up to the highest standards to complete any project.
Our team provides services accross the country and is looking to expand to cover the whole of the UK (and beyond!). Register your interest and ensure to include your location and we will get back to you asap.
(Note, remote locations may be subject to longer lead times based on local resource / availability)
